In the year 1539, the adjacent lands that now form the Olivar de San Isidro were officially granted to the Dominican congregation. During the 1630s, an extraordinary undertaking was initiated by none other than Saint Martín de Porres himself. This endeavor involved the planting of olive trees on the expansive grounds of the ancient Hacienda del Rosario, more famously recognized as Limatambo. This vast expanse was strategically located along the historical pathway referred to as the "Capac Ñam," an ancient pre-Hispanic route that held the distinction of being known as the "Camino Real," and by another moniker, the route leading to the revered Pachacámac. Remarkably, the very path that once was, now constitutes the bustling Via Expresa, a vibrant artery coursing through our beloved City of the Kings. From the Camino Real to the Mill, the skilled hands of Fray Martín de Porres diligently crafted olive stakes, a precursor to the creation of the cherished olive grove. It
